AIFS Scholarships & Grants
AIFS Diversity Achievement Scholarship
Fall Semester: $5,000/up to 3 awards
Spring Semester: $5,000/up to 3 awards
AIFS offers multiple scholarships including, special scholarships for high achieving students from backgrounds historically underrepresented in education abroad. Each semester, AIFS offers up to three $5,000 scholarships to applicants who demonstrate high academic achievement and/or participate in community service activities.
Deadlines: Completed scholarship and program applications must be postmarked or sent via email by the following deadlines:

CET Scholarships & Grants
CET offers multiple scholarships including a diversity scholarship awarded to first-generation college students and students from racial/ethnic minority groups studying with CET. Priority will be given to students who also demonstrate financial need. Two awards will be given each term: $2,000 for fall/spring programs and $1,500 for summer programs.

These need-based scholarships take into account that your study abroad program might cost more than tuition at your home college or university.
SIT Scholarships & Grants
Semester scholarship awards generally range from $500 to $5,000, and summer awards typically range from $500 to $3,000. It is possible that students receiving special SIT scholarships and who are using their Pell Grant for a summer program may receive a partial match award.

Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) Scholarships
The mission of the Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) is to provide scholarships and ongoing support to students who are underrepresented among the U.S. study abroad population.
FEA’s Access Partners join in the shared commitment to increase the number of underrepresented American college students studying abroad through the provision of scholarships.
FEA scholarship applicants participating on programs hosted by providers in our Access Partner program may be eligible for financial support of up to $5,000.
Good Colleges Study Abroad Award
The Study Abroad Award essay competition is open to current and future college students who are interested in studying abroad. To enter, write a 150-250 word essay on this round’s theme. Good Colleges scholarships are designed to be easy to apply for and to promote positive study attitudes.

Diversity Abroad Overseas Ambassador Scholarship
The DiversityAbroad.com Overseas Ambassador Scholarship was formerly known as the DiversityAbroad.com/AIFS Blogging Scholarship. Diversity Abroad, in cooperation with the AIFS Foundation, will offer $500 scholarships for fall and spring semesters as well as summer term. Five scholarships are available for each semester and two scholarships are available for summer. Students going abroad for the full fall, spring or summer terms are eligible to apply. Economically disadvantaged students, first-generation, students with disabilities and ethnic and racially diverse students are strongly encouraged to apply. Gilman-McCain Scholarship
The Gilman-McCain Scholarship is a congressionally funded initiative of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs at the U.S. Department of State and named after the late senator John S. McCain from Arizona.
The Gilman-McCain Scholarship provides awards of $5,000 for child dependents of active duty service members to study or intern abroad on credit-bearing programs. Applicants must be recipients of any type of Title IV federal financial aid during the time of application or provide proof that they will be receiving Title IV federal financial aid during their study abroad program or internship.
Boren Scholarship
Fund study abroad by U.S. undergraduate students in world regions critical to U.S. interests.
Maximum awards are determined by duration abroad:
Up to $25,000 for 25-52 weeks (preferred)
Up to $12,500 for 12-24 weeks
Up to $8,000 for 8-11 weeks (STEM majors only)
University Summer Course Grant
This program provides scholarships to attend a broad range of three- to four-week summer courses at German universities which focus mainly on German language and literary, cultural, political and economic aspects of modern and contemporary Germany.
